A New Place to Get PrEP!

The Maple Leaf clinic is now offering a PrEP clinic in Downtown Toronto!

PrEP stands for “Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis.” It’s a daily medication that people take that’s designed to prevent someone from contracting HIV. The World Health Organization recommends it for people who don’t have HIV but are at risk for becoming positive (for a list of reasons why someone might be at risk, check out thesexyouwant.ca/prep/reasons-to-get-on-prep). PrEP has been shown to be as high as 99% effective at reducing risk for HIV.

****PrEP is just for HIV Prevention****
  • PrEP does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections, and it is not a cure for HIV.

Cis- and Transgender people interested in accessing PrEP at the Maple Leaf clinic can either be referred by their doctors, STI clinics, public health or they can refer themselves. The only requirement is that they are HIV negative.

For more info, or to book an appointment, contact them by:

For other clinics in Ontario offering PrEP , check out Where to Get PrEP here: thesexyouwant.ca/prep/where-to-get-prep

As a heads up, PrEP is expensive. Check with your health care provider to see if you’re covered under any Ontario drug benefit plan, Federal health plan or OHIP+. If none of those work, you might be able to apply for the Trillium drug benefit plan. You can also call the AIDS Committee of Toronto’s PrEP access coordinator at 416-340-8484 ext 234.
