Birth Control: Overview of Popular Methods

Overview of Popular Methods:

This module will mostly cover some of the thoughts, feelings, and conversations we have around birth control, and not so much about the individual methods themselves. We have an intro article here: Birth Control Basics, but please check out the following resources on some of the more popular methods of birth control:

Hormonal Methods:

Hormonal birth control methods use hormones to stop ovulation, thicken cervical mucus, and thin the uterine lining. Together, these 3 factors decrease a person’s chance of getting pregnant.

Non-Hormonal Methods

Non-hormonal birth control methods use a number of different methods to decrease a person’s chance of getting pregnant. This includes barriers, spermicides, tracking ovulation, and other medical procedures.
