Across Boundaries are a community organization that provides mental health and addiction services for racialized communities in the Greater Toronto Area. They offer programs and services that integrate skills building, digital programming, support groups, alternative and complementary therapies, art therapy, creative expressions, a community kitchen, individual support, counselling, and community partnerships.
Their staff practice harm reduction, sex-positivity, queer-positivity, trans-inclusivity, compassionate and trauma-informed counselling. Their services are client-centered and judgement-free. Across Boundaries works to provide equitable, inclusive and holistic mental health and addiction services for racialized people across the Greater Toronto Area. They acknowledge the impact of racism and anti-Black racism on mental health. They believe in empowering individuals to take control of their health in their healing journeys.
Across Boundaries currently provides services in many languages, including Caribbean Dialects, Shona, Amharic, Harare, Xhosa, Tsonga, Afrikaans, Swahili, Somali, Twi, Dari, Pashto, Farsi (Persian), Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, and English.
Case Management with Across Boundaries involves helping people achieve their goals and provide support in navigating housing, education, employment, legal issues, family reunification, immigration, social assistance, ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), Ontario Works, and more.
In addition to the above services list, Across Boundaries has Youth Case Management Services and Programs – Transitional Aged Youth (TAY).
This program offers a range of support and services for transitional aged youth (ages 15-24) with mental health and/or substance abuse issues who live within the borders of Dufferin/Humber River/Steeles/401. It is offered in collaboration with the Black Creek Community Health Centre. Please call 416-787-3007 for an appointment.
They also offer case management services for all individuals ages 16 and up who have been diagnosed with a serious mental illness
In addition to the services listed above, Across Boundaries offers a number of mental health support services and services for those who are 2SLGBTQ+ and who identify as QTBIPOC (Queer & Trans Black, Indigenous, and Person of Colour), including Case Management and Counselling.
